John Paul II (#265), who was elected at 58, was pope for 31% of this life.

John XXIII (#262), who was elected at 76, was pope for 4.9% of this life.

Pius IX (#256), 'Pio Nono,' whose reign exceeded 31 years, was pope for 36.5% of his life; i.e., he was pope for over a third of his life.

 

Popes who belonged to religious orders: at least 30. The last was Gregory XVI (#255) in 1831, a Camaldolese/Benedictine. The first known was Gregory I the Great (#64).
