I saw this a few nights ago and was awfully touched, honored and humbled. He is obviously looking for new ‘friends’ that can help him get his side of the story out. I, of course, contacted him and said that I will be HAPPY TO HELP in whatever capacity I can. His description matches.  The Vatileaks ‘Claudio’ is indeed cited as an IT expert.

With the announcement October 24, 2012, that Patriarch Béchara Boutros Raï, O.M.M., Patriarch of Antiochia {Antioch} (Maronite), Lebanon, was to be created a Cardinal Patriarch at the November 24, 2012, cardinal creating consistory, I got thinking as to how many Cardinal Patriarchs we have had. To my amusement and bemusement, I discovered that I had never complied a list of all of them, and I was unable to readily find a list on the Web.

On February 5, 1965, Paul VI (#263) motu proprio, Ad Purpuratorum Patrum, that any Eastern (Oriental) Rites Patriarchs made cardinals will not be assigned a Roman title and instead would continue to be associated with their original patriarchal sees. They would, however, always be classed as Cardinal Bishops and vis-à-vis seniority within the College be ranked immediately below those with title to the suburbicarian sees. This ruling is still in effect.

As usual, Edward stepped in and helped out. Thank YOU, Edward. So here is his list.

Yes, I had noted that this, the 5th oldest ranking, would come to be in February 24, 2012.

Pope Benedict XVI became the 6th oldest, as of 1400,
on March 1, 2012 overtaking John Paul II (#265).
—-

He had become the 7th oldest, as of 1400, on July 19, 2010.

For the first time in 834 days, 2 years 3 months, John Paul II and Benedict XVI are not next to each other in the ‘Oldest Popes Since 1400‘ chart. The current pope with 245 more days as pope, i.e., 8 months longer, has drawn ahead and will continue to do so.

This is quite a significant achievement, getting up to the top 5, albeit since 1400.

Mormons are not Christians as such. That is not a personal judgement on Mitt Romney or anyone else.

It is simply to say that the Mormon faith is not in accordance with central Christian teaching as understood by Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants alike.

So this is so ironic, after 4 years of ignorant idiots claiming that Obama is not a Christian,
we now elect a DOCUMENTED Non-Christian!

Yesterday’s discussion as to what would have been so wrong to have named 7 new cardinals, as opposed to 6, given that there is another vacancy looming 14-days later, got me rethinking and reexamining the pivotal clause #33 in John Paul II’s (#265) 1996 Universi Dominci Gregis Apostolic Constitution — still the pertinent ‘standing orders’ for a sede vacante (notwithstanding the trivial and inconsequential tweak to clause #75 made by this pope in 2007).

So here is Universi Dominci Gregis Clause #33 from the Vatican per se in English and in Latin:

Now please go and read this post as to how it is indeed possible to have OVER 80 cardinal electors, legitimately, at a conclave contrary to what so many will impulsively claim.

You should also now read this, IF you were not familiar with this machination from 1936:

Click to read the full story in ‘The New York Times’.

As it happens it will not have any bearing on the November 24, 2012 consistory as the pope, atypically is NOT creating any over-80 cardinals, though he has created 16 in his last 4 cardinal creating consistories.

So lets assume that the pope creates a 83-year old cardinal and a sede vacante occurs that very same day.

Would that 83-year old cardinal be eligible to participate in the conclave.

I contend: Yes, definitely.

He was NOT an over-80 cardinal the day prior to the sede vacante! No if and buts. He was NOT an over-80 cardinal the prior day; he was NOT a cardinal, irrespective of age — but he is NOW a cardinal!

This will NEVER happen, but is yet another amusing inconsistency as to what can happen.

Why won’t it happen. The FLIP answer would be that the Holy Spirit would never be that unkind.

The more realistic and pragmatic answer would be that the Camerlengo, realizing the danger, will DELAY the pronouncement of the pope’s death, as is HIS unique prerogative, till the following day to obviate the issue.

I screwed up in my last post — now deleted. I am totally distracted, beside myself, about 8 years under Romney. Rushing, which is another reason for the faux pas, to attend a farewell meeting for the always neat Dr. Mrs. Jill Biden later today.

The eligibility for conclave attendance is calculated as of the day before the sede vacante. Darien N. Clark put me right. My fault. It was in the Paul VI (#264) constitution that the 80-year cut-off was calculated as of the day of the conclave.

So there is a 14 day window of uncertainty. If the pope was not willing to risk that 2 week window, then there must be a reason.
