Since I had both Word files it was easy enough to do, and I know Fr. John, at a minimum, will get a kick from it. Kind of interesting. Overall a younger set of presumptives, tough the curial picks are older. When I copied over the age numbers I thought I had screwed up. Just couldn’t believe that the ages of the Italian, U.S.A. and German ‘cardinals’ would be the same! Is that just a coincidence? Scary.
Despite the initial reaction, this batch is lighter on the Italians than in 2010 — both in terms of absolute numbers and %. Hhhmmm. Curial fractionally higher as a % in 2012. Asia actually did better this time around, though I am sure than my brethren are up in arms that Sri Lanka, the bastion of Latin Mass Catholicism in the Indian Ocean, did not get another cardinal. Africa, as we know, didn’t get a looking.
