Vacancies In Rome Post Death Of Puertorriqueño Cardinal Priest Luis Aponte Martínez — April 10, 2012.
I didn’t update the vacancy chart when Guatemalan Cardinal Priest Rodolfo Quezada Toruño, aged 80, died on June 5, 2012 — though, as ever, I did chronicle his passing and what it did to the College of Cardinals statistics.
With his passing we have 7 titles & 4 deaconries vacant — even though we are still one-over-the-top in terms of electors.
San Saturnino is another modern, unprepossessing title, adorned with some local Roman graffiti which was only established in October 2003, so that it could be assigned to Quezada Toruño. So he is the only cardinal who has held this title. There are 6 martyred Saints named ‘Saturnino’ — with the root of that name being fairly obvious.
