That makes sense. The head of Rome Reports is also an Opus Dei member. Greg Burke will report to the Vatican’s Substitute (sostituto) Secretary of State, Archbishop Angelo Becciu, assistant to Lord Bertone, Secretary of State (#2 at the Vatican). The legendary Dr. Joaquín Navarro-Valls who was the Director of the Holy See Press Office from 1984 to 2006 was also a member of Opus Dei, who had voluntarily taken a vow of ‘celibacy’ (though I am not sure whether that meant he also stayed chaste). Not sure where Burke stands on this.
Out of Control Lombardi, now with major egg on face will continue as spokesman — but Burke will be instructing him (thank God) on what to say and do. The Vatican needed this. Lombardi was a disaster — not waiting to happen, but one that had happened.
